We are gonna disagree here.

I think some things should be kept private for a vast number of reasons. One of the most valid reasons is that is today's world, the soundbyte is king. Short, terse, writeups suffice for news articles. Sensationalism rules.

Those reports "probably" had reams of paper behind them that were used to develop the methods of interrogation. There is a lot of background behind the memos, yet only the memos will be made public and only the juiciest points that reflect poorly on Bush and Cheney will be publshed.

There is a group of people who simply want to "get" Bush and Cheney, these documents will be used with glee, possibly inappropriately, by those parties and will be cited ad nauseam, in context or not, by others.

But keep in mind, the release of stuff like this does not tell the full story, that is a problem.
