Fark, I feel partially responsible. Somebody take away my trading license, and park my money in cash for a few months, won't ya? <g?>

Seriously, I don't know how I escaped from today with my hide intact. I'm short some small trash, and I foolishly thought that if I'd survived to SPX 850 without getting slaughtered, that I need not worry about the last few percent it might rally.

WRONG!!!

Turns out, the trash starts popping like popcorn only in the final stage of the short covering. So the last few percent of this broad market rally has actually driven significantly larger losses on my shorts than the first fcuking 200 points. And I've had ZERO hedging gains to offset them!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhh....

I suppose I shoulda been able to figure this out, but I haven't had such a significant exposure to the REIT and financial trash in prior short covering "opportunities".
