"Sure makes a lot of sense to travel in downtown subways at 200 MPH doesn't it. "

I am guessing you don't understand the word 'regional'...

Maybe you should look at a map of the proposed routes and stop being such a moron?

No one is talking cross country except you. Until mag levs become practical, the best we can do is regional hi-speed rail. People take it because its convenient and less stressful. More will take if its faster.

Sure makes a lot of sense to travel in downtown subways at 200 MPH doesn't it. Not to mention that most towns already have enough rail or are adding more.

Let's look at what Obama said.

"Obama said the rail upgrades are critically needed because the nation's highways and airways "are clogged with traffic.""

So what airways will this high speed train compete with? A downtown helicopter ferry?

I posted a map and still you talk to be about local/metro vs regional. Tell me where you live and I will explain regional to you.

And just for the record, China has built a mag lev that takes one from Shanghai's airport to Downtown Shanghai........eventually its to go to Beijing.
