Chris's intended to be hostile post about moronic bible thrumpers isn't that bad. Straightdope despite some misleading stuff is dertainly accurate on some things: Its right to date at least 3 of the gospels to before the destruction of the Jerusalem temple in 70AD. Its also right to represent Mark's Gospel as being based on Peter's testimony and to identify Luke as a protege of the apostle and evangelist Paul, who is also deemed the author of most of the Pauline epistles. That confirms the core of the NT dates to within a few decades of Jesus's death and resurrection when there were many eyewitnesses around. That's what I've telling you, Shep.
