You know what the book looks like since you gave it to me. What is the covering on the red book? It looks leatherish. The green book is ½ inch taller and ¼ inch wider and the hardcover is definitely covered in cloth. The print is identical between the two and the green just has a slightly wider margin around the text. I've read several times the first edition was green, but I've also read the first edition sold out very quickly. You mentioned the 1st or 2nd state as opposed to the edition. I believe these are both 1st editions, but the red book with gilded edges is likely the 1st state that sold out quickly. The red book is unquestionably more beautiful. * * *
