Cowell's backstage hands new what was coming - so I am sure that he may also have known.
That's a great point. I had forgotten about their reaction to her first notes. They did know what was coming it appears.

Susan Boyle doesn't need to perform at a high level on a regular basis.
She just needs an honest manager and professional backup orchestra to cut a CD in the next 180 days.
It will go platinum on the first day of sales, and don't think the record companies aren't aware.
But she must act quickly while enthusiasm is high.
