Well, to be ABSOLUTELY honest, they did start with a eugenics agenda vis-a-vis Margaret Sanger. They don't espouse it anymore, but they have lots of company with other groups and agencies that started off with what today would be a highly questionable charter or supportive agenda.

Bureau of Indian Affairs, is one government example. The Major Leagues of Baseball and the chartering bodies of all other sports franchises are other examples. All Protestant churches and the Catholic faith, on occasion, have been on the wrong side of issues regarding race or gender. Tiger Woods probably played many venues that were formerly free of "coloreds and Jews". Times change, people change. Agendas change.

Today, Planned Parenthood is a centrist organization that provides contraceptive guidance as their primary message and I consider them to be apolitical about all other matters except unplanned birth. The people at Planned Parenthood aren't "pro-abortion". They know it is always a medical procedure, with risk, and represents a deviation from their mission of "planned parenthood". For that matter, I don't know anyone who is pro-abortion in that they believe what we need is more abortions.

Abortion only occurs when birth control fails. If the anti-abortion crowd had any kind of vision they'd see this logical and doctrinal imperfection in their belief systems regarding expectations of abstinence and sin-free clean moral living. Birth control works if done properly and unlike the Pope's claims, condom use does not increase disease, it decreases it. It unarguably reduces abortion too..
