No one who values their life would go much east of 101 where East Palo Alto borders the freeway. There is one commercial area adjacent to the freeway with an IKEA but security is needed for car parking. I once went to a Starbucks in that complex and felt like a magnet for panhandlers.........won't ever do that again. Someone tried to beg money from me as I drove through the McDonald's drivethru.................it's a scary place and one that I now avoid. An old friend of mine once lived there and she said she heard shots fired everynight.
