Theo, right to suggest that the desert dirts do have GOLD -in the SANDS -From QUARTZ. Gold of Different sizes! I suspect. I have NO doubt that there is fine gold and Micro golds there. They were put there with a quartz, they broke down from means that I don't have to fully understand. But I suspect that the salts and saline seas and lagons helped to move them, complex them and change them--ie ALTER = TO MAKE DIFFERENT WITHOUT CHANGING INTO SOMETHINGELSE! Different but similar...GOLDS!
