To succeed in this market, I think companies will have to offer products with more than just fast switching and the right interface support. Cost will be important, but the key differentiators may be on the service front, like efficient Layer 3 capabilities, support for QoS features like class-based queuing, or tight integration with leagacy stuff like FDDI. Other private contenders include Packet Engines, XLNT Designs, Xedia, Acacia, and Juniper. If I were buying a public pure-play, it would be Plaintree (progress there is largely overlooked, IMHO).
