I think this is/was THE quarter for banks to posts profits "at any cost" in order to suck in many billions more on the backs of temporarily elevated stock prices. I do not think they can pull this fast one for two quarters.

By the way, so far this year I am up 147% on my investments. My investment year now runs from January 2nd to January 2nd. <g>

We won't talk about January 1st, where all losses for 2008 were piled, and all estimated losses for 2009 and the next four years were also crammed. We'll just call it the "missing day."

Anyway, who cares how bad that day was, it wasn't part of any known accounting year that I use.
