Those old Confederate elite were only raciest because it helped them to profit from their plantations. The common southerner did not fight till the damned yankees were burning thier fields. My family lived in LA, thats Lower Alabama, in the 19th century. There was almost no damned Yankee soldiers in LA during the Civil War and so we only had one ancestor who was in the Confederate Army and another building Confederate steamships in Mobile.
