My understanding is:

You also have to pay on all the gains in your retirement accounts when you
expatriate...
And if assets exceed 2mm have to file and pay tax for the next 10 yrs ...

Even if asset base is smaller IRS can compel same if they are interested.

Most of this passed Bush 2nd term so pubs may not be updated yet
