I don't mean to be rude or mean, but you just don't have a clue as to the history of the Catholic Church...

Hmm, I'm the one who has posted historians opinions to support my case that the church (Catholic and other) hasn't been a powerful suppressant of knowledge. Yet you seem to have a secret store of contrary knowledge of history on this score.

read a bit on the reformation OR SOMETHING will YOU?

Well, I know something about that too, but its not relevant to the suppression of science or knowledge which is the subject we've been discussing. That would be inter-church fighting. Another subject from suppressing knowledge.

Jeeez, and you wonder why statements like "religion is a positive force" from someone like you rings so hollow!?

No, I actually expect positive comments about and defenses of Christianity to be met with hostility. Thats a shame especially coming from people who say they have positive feelings about Christianity.

You're right about Galileo though... he was an anomoly they didn't burn him at the stake! -ggg-

Although the Catholic church has certainly burned people at the stake over the centuries, they did not burn a single person over science issues. That was done for heresy re doctrine. Just to keep the subject being discussed straight.

I'm afraid to say I have to put you on ignore now...

Thats another thing I expect. It happens after people are uanble to defend their positions and have to disregard evidence to the contrary I've provided them .... as for example the evidence from historian James Hannam I provided to you. I think it falls under the heading of reducing cognitive dissonance.

when I see the crazy guy out in front of the shelter down town speaking crazyness and looking dangerous I walk to the other side of the street. It's time to cross the street.

LOL. And when one hears evidence that ones beliefs are wrong, its best to stop ones ears lest one have to adjust an opinion.
