A nice account, but with lots of ifs and buts.

It seems clear even from this document that CO2 levels have been far higher in the past than they are now. However it is also clear that evidence is that CO2 increases lagged the temperature rises, and the explanation for that is sketchy.

It is also clear that they are big advocates for the "enhancing" effect. i.e. that increasing temperatures cause increasing CO2 release and that in turn increases temperature.

However if that "runaway" process really occurred then what caused its reverse? Obviously that theory predicts that surface temperatures should still be extremely high and CO2 should be a major part of the atmosphere as the result of any one of the numerous proven periods of past warming trends.

Neither is true, so what is the process that causes the earth to cool again and CO2 levels to drop? It has never been explained, but I am sure it wasn't a carbon trading scheme organised by past civilizations!
