No American president should ever openingly shake hands with a Communist leader...IMO! Hmmmmm? So Roosevelt (and Truman) should have snubbed Stalin in WWII even though he was our alley in fighting against Fascism? And Nixon should have snubbed Mao Tse-tung? Would we be a better world had Hitler won and China remained a Sleeping Giant? When you snub a leader - you are snubbing their country. The people of that snubbed country often then come to resent America. That is nothing other than basic nationalism.
