I have heard the bondholders have insured the bonds through AIG. I can't cite a source but if it's true, and it makes sense to me that they did that, then GM will be forced into bankruptcy no matter what the unions do. It is by far the most profitable play for the vulture funds. Force a default, collect on the insurance from the taxpayers, make a huge profit. It's the way Wall Street players work.
