<Darwin's racism was connected to his beliefs on evolution, so they're relevant on this thread. Doesn't make it false, just interesting information. >

Actually they aren't relevant to the thread... but whatever, we all go astray from time to time. :)

<As for the posts exploring positives about religion, that was posted here in response to negative messages about religion.>

But those weren't "negatives" about religion... they were simple historical, informative posts about evolution. The fact that they are construed as pejorative in some way speaks of the perceiver, not the information itself.

Look, everyone makes mistakes... it would make sense that the most powerful institution on the planet (back then) would be "labeled" as the perpetrator of some of the biggest whoppers (hence when I say so, it's not a negative... I think it's normal) it's just plain common sense........... unless it's claimed that god guides it special... more special than any other or anyone else... in fact so special that it's gods "bride". Then it raises eyebrows when it turns out your just like everyone else. :))

OK... how about this for a FRESH START on Evolution??? Here is a challenge to those who don't believe in evolution:

So... we see change everywhere it is literally PERVASIVE in everything we sense and experience:

* Day turns to nite, coincident with all sorts of amazing changes in the surrounding environment AND right down to the physiology of the body.

* Spring turns to summer turns to fall, etc. all with absolutely astounding changes in weather, organismal behaviour and morphology.

* Single cells, divide (reproduce), grow, migrate around the body, differentiate to fullfull all sorts of amazing functions right in front of our eyes... human cells as well as plants, etc.

* organisms develop, making incredible changes pointed out in post above, are born, grow, change form and function depending not only on it's needs, but the needs around them, including the environment. Indeed, there are "colonies" of organisms which behave more like a "super organism", further all organisms seem to display connection to all others... ie. are not separate from their environment... changing WITH the environment.

* Even the physical earth changes constantly, with volcanoes, plates shifting, Mountain ranges spring up and are worn away, etc.

* Even at the atomic level, one element changes (decays) to another over time.

Societies change, information changes, beliefs change.

So, my question is this... everything seems to change, moreover, changes on EVERY LEVEL, NOTHING is static. Therefore it seems that "evolutionary theory" would be simply be an attempt to describe this change (in this case of organisms over long periods of time), and (the concept) would be simply a "given".

It seems to me therefore incumbant on those who DONT think organisms change over time (evolution) to explain why not??

Anyone have any ideas as to WHY NOT?
