soros is explioting an opportunity that exists because people's expectaions of what their currency was actually worth became inflated, as developing nations tred to develop without the previous inflationay cycles. you may not like him but he is not a jerk. he is a serious thinker who exploits others blind optimism. much of which exists on this thread. AMAT is an excellent comapny, but it exists in an inperfect world and is affected by that imperfect world. last year it was obviously undervalued. this year it became overvalued, in the sense that the upside was less likely than something somewhere happening to show us all the downside. My guess is that the 40% decline we have seen is also now overdone, but not if the currency woes continue to get worse. for all the reasons I stated in my one previous post. (i don't know how to create a link to it). I am, by the way, currently (since thursday) long and plan to buy again at some point today, but would not bet the farm unless you're willing to sleep in fields if you're wrong.
