"If it's in public or in a public building, it's disturbing because the public is forced to listen and they may no want to.... Now you are against free speech. How far do you want to drive this religious compulsion of yours? No one is forced to listen to a public prayer. If someone attends a public event and hears religious statements, it does not force them to listen to the message, participate in prayer, the devotion, or to believe anything they do not want to. "Would you allow Atheist speeches in your church? Private atheist institutions are entitled to forbid speeches within their walls that contradict their teachings. People attending a devotional service are entitled to the same. Neither of which is relevant.

So its prayer you find disturbing but not religious music. Because its easy for you to mentally block out the words. And prayer is so threatening you don't want it in public at all. Hmm. Would you allow Atheist speeches in your church? I certainly don't favor banning atheist speeches from being delivered in public. As for an atheist speaking in a church or other religious institution - in an appropriate format, say a debate, sure. Christopher Hitchens recently debated Wm Lane Craig at a Christian university: Message 25554305 Thousands of people turned out to hear the debate and listened politely. Conservative broadcaster Hugh Hewitt was the moderator. Craig mopped the floor with Hitchens apparently.
