>>So in a democracy each candidate makes their case to the people and the people elect the one they think will take from others to give to them.<<

there, fixed that for you.

>>So we won and now we get to use our ideas.<<

let me know how enriched you feel when the national debt stands at $23 trillion when *your* guy gets out of office.

by the way, there was no candidate to vote for that wouldn't subsidize crooked and inept bankers with trillions in public money.

didn't 98% of the people who contacted congress urge them to not bailout the crooked bankers? seems your guy went rogue.

*there was no choice*.

but, yes, your crook won and i suppose that warms the cackles of your heart that your guy gets to rob you blind instead of the other guy.

Koan,

I see that you voted for the government who is sending trillions in bailout to crooks and bad managements, more troops in the midle-east, and creating larger deficits.

That is the control that the current North American democracies are giving you over our governments.

I know you disagree with many of the actions taken by the current administration. So you can't be very happy with the results of your vote. But that is not your fault. The government has been given all the powers.

The dangers of democracies have been well explained by many.

Individual freedom is the fundamental value that must underlie all social relations, economic exchanges and the political system. But with individual freedom goes individual responsibilities, something that people are gladly delegating nowadays.

"So we won and now we get to use our ideas."

My problem is that most of the ideas are exactly the same. Policy in some very minor ways has changed, and many for the better in my view. But those are just the sprinkles on the cake. If the same (largely) economic policies are continued as under GW, then we're screwed. I thought so when Bush was in power, and my opinion has not changed because I'm blinded by the new person wearing the suit.

In the end, we are going to want to eat far more than we will debate gay marriage or normalizing relations with Cuba.
