Thanks. I sure hope the content providers don't raise prices 4X. The only saving grace is that the cable companies will also have to pay the higher prices. Actually, it might make Dish even more attractive because they are trying to be the lowest cost provider.

From todays Motley Fool evening news:

Satellite company ECHOSTAR COMMUNICATIONS
CORP. (Nasdaq:DISH - news) dropped out of orbit $2 to $21 after an unfavorable U.S. Copyright Office ruling that the
amount satellite companies would have to pay to broadcast network television would quadruple..

So this affects only the broadcast channels, not ALL content as my earlier post sort of implied. Unfortunately, the Echostar III satellite just successully launched was mainly intended to give extra channel capacity so that more local broadcast channels could be carried over the Dish network.

This is not good news at all. Maybe let this settle out for a few days and buy back in, I just don't know. I have a feeling that no-earning, small cap stocks like DISH are going to be at the end of the cattle trough of any money that may come back into the market if the market gets any buying pressure tomorrow. We'll see I guess.

all the best

p.s. I have a Dish and I really like it.
