Are they getting money $ for growing food or is this for keeping land out of production? And, why should there be a National Black Farmers associaiton? Do we have an English Farmers Association? How about a German Farmers Association? Or, Cherokee Indian Farmers Association? Or a Pale Face Farmers Association? mj

There is and has been a list of Socially Disadvantaged Farmers(SDA) for as long as I can remember.....Everybody is on the list, except for the male honkie. They also have a standard anti discrimination statement posted......not sure how they square that with the SDA part. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) makes and guarantees loans to approved socially disadvantaged applicants to buy and operate family-size farms and ranches. A socially disadvantaged (SDA) farmer, rancher, or agricultural producer is one of a group whose members have been subjected to racial, ethnic, or gender prejudice because of his or her identity as a member of the group without regard to his or her individual qualities. SDA groups are women, African Americans, American Indians, Alaskan Natives, Hispanics, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. fsa.usda.gov P.S. I've seen some pretty good sized lumps of money thrown right down a rat hole through the SDA program.
