if condi had actionable intel that something was up, that might make zubayda different than the blanket authorization that came later. There is a line that should never be crossed and they obviously did cross it, but that doesnt mean condi didnt act in national interst in 02 even if she was wrong about the actionable intel. Its a fine point but it may help the govt find the real wrong doers who institutionalizd it and then justified it with bull shit form the lawyers.

I believe that she thought she was acting in the best interest of the country...in some misguided irrational way. I wonder what she would say if one of our soldiers was being waterboarded 180 times in the course of a month while in enemy hands. Assuming that the information they got was of any value, and that's quite debatable, security obtained this way is not worth selling one's soul to the devil.
