I just heard the US Gov.(us the tax payers) are gonna pick up all the retirement and health care cost for the UAW, if GM goes bankrupt.

No, not actually.

Deflation helps those who REFUSE to spend (because they are waiting for cheaper prices in the future).

But --- as long as it is continuing --- only fools would buy most anything... because they would know that it would always be cheaper later on....

(Problem is that this feeds upon itself until most all economic activity freezes-up.)

So... deflation ONLY 'helps spenders' when it COMES TO AN END (& they know that prices are not going to go any lower....)

Problem is, once it becomes entrenched in the economy, no one knows when it will ever end, so economic activity just dries up.
