Because someone does not believe in a god does not mean they are trying to play God.

You mean, like, "if man was meant to fly. God would've given him wings?" Or Christians who believe going to a doctor is the equivalent of playing god and therefore use prayer instead of modern medicine for healing the sick?

God may or may not exist. Mankind does exist.

In other words, mankind exists whether or not there is a god. The reverse is not necessarily true...
