Ultimately, Captain Philips owes his safety to the American forces at the scene for a job well done. As to how much credit Obama deserves for the mission has been a matter of debate since the rescue transpired. No doubt Obama would have preferred no loss of life, but for myself, I have no sympathy for the dead pirates and hope their fate serves as a warning to others.
