please focus on china because that was the nation i brought up. in case you don't know, it has a lot of people, so i didn't cherry pick it

China is where the US was decades ago. We too then polluted as acid rain killed lakes and before we took lead out of our gas. You are naive and wrong to think that China will continue on their growth glide without addressing pollution - they will or the people will riot. As China continues to grow their energy needs become daunting - you think there will not be some point they say enough is enough? China will be like France and Spain and Germany and Japan which all have their favored but different ways of addressing pollution. WE can anticipate and participate or we can go invade another country and waste our resources. Our choice - your choice.
