Perhaps that is the feeling of the people desparate enough to create a strong case by including fraudulent material. The theory of evolution goes back a very long time now and has been taught in schools for at least a century. Yet roughly half the population rejects it out of hand despite having been taught it. That bothers some folks, I suppose. If they just make the case stronger and tighter maybe we can get everyone to believe it, I think may be the state of mind. And so you have textbook writers with a social mission.
