The credit system has been abused by those financial institutions that have chosen to step into the "unregulated" arena, allowed to be "unregulated" by the very regulators that were supposed to be ensuring the safety and sanity of these financial institutions.

Once "unregualtion" took root, it set the stage for the cranks and the crooks to concoct any and all deals for the sake of the front end commissions.

It was the combination of unregulation and very lucrative front end commissions that has proven lethal for the financial system.

One might put under the microscope the resumes and the bank accounts of both those regulators who permitted "unregulation" to take root and those salesman/financial advisers who stood to reap very lucrative front end commissions on deals that should never have been made.

Aside: Donald Trump on CNN at the moment talking about those senior executives taking home $60 million a year while taking their companies to the precipice or worse.
