Korea avoids recession. This is intriguing to me. Either I'm completely misunderstanding what's going on globally, or this contraction has a lot further to go.

I don't give a whole lot of credence to the notion that, when we look back on the credit bubble wipeout that started in 2008, that we're going to see headlines from major export-oriented countries like "South Korea narrowly avoided recession." The history books suggest that a massive deleveraging like this takes no prisoners. Perhaps I'm just old-fashioned and we really have "learned" how to fix depressions. Call me foolish, but I'll take the other side of that idea.

I was checking out F's bond prices earlier in the week and they are very healthy, light years from GM.

Should give the suppliers a bit of a boost.

Today may be a good day for the Ford family, but tomorrow the Ford family has the first pick in the NFL draft, and you know how well they've done in picking talent the past few years.

Mr. Ford wants Matthew Stafford, QB from the University of Georgia. He's got draft bust written all over him, but William Clay Ford is directing his people to draft him. If they do not sign Stafford today, they reportedly will go with Aaron Curry, LB from Wake Forest.

We'll let the Ford family bask in their glory today.
