Jonathan S. Landay at McClatchy has discovered the real reason that Abu Zubaydah and Khalid Sheikh Muhammad were tortured dozens of times in the run-up to the Iraq War.

You do realize there were only 18 days between the date of KSM's capture and the start of the war?

Which information in the "runup" to the Iraq War, EXACTLY, did KSM provide?

Which is what the Japanese and the communists used waterboarding for - to force the victims to make false statements, not to elicit intelligence. The technique used repeatedly is effective at getting the victims to believe and propogate false propaganda, as it seems to break the victims grip on reality and what IS true. So, it's not very useful at getting useful intelligence, since a victim will say ANYTHING to make it stop.

See inode's very relevant reply about the short gap between KSM's capture and the war. How could his interrogation have had much to do with the war?

Besides did KSM say there was a Saddam-AQ connection? If not, what does it have to the war?

And what is wrong with trying to find out if there was a connection?
