I think rape prisoners are routinely subjected to in just every prison in America, is a far more henious than waterboarding. And I don't see the left getting all exercised about it. As a matter of fact, I recall reading about a Democrat politician in California actually hoping it would happen to a political opponent a few years ago.

What I see is politics being dragged into the difficult decisions leaders need to make in order to protect America.

There is no nuance being expressed in the mainstream news regarding this issue. What's being expressed is partisan politics from the left, trying to get some last minute crapping in toward the Bush administration and those who supported them.

Nuanced positions are fine to debate in college classrooms. It's far more difficult to deal with in the real world - when lives are at stake. Is it better to have never harmed anyone and been shot in the head the way the Pirates were recently? I think if they had a choice they would rather be waterboarded for a couple of weeks instead of shot in the head. But, I would never criticize Obama, or the on scene Commander for making a tough call like that. The same is true regarding the supposedly horrible torture event. You or I have no idea what actionable intelligence was received and how great the threat was before the intelligence agency went to work.

Those moralizing about torture fail to see this straight forward reality.

Oh, and I have no inclination to read up on the science of staying up for days. I've had to do it on hundreds of occasions to support military operations. Have you?

It happens all the time.
