I first became aware of the issue in 1980. It seemed sensible then and I thought human caused global warming was likely (and inevitable cause I know the worlds not going to stop using fossil fuels till they're replaced by something better and cheaper) for very many years. But over the years I've done a lot of reading on it and know the climate issue isn't as simple as I thought.

The knowledge that CO2 and temperature have varied widely throughout earths history and that the ice core data shows that that CO2 has lagged temperature changes shows that CO2 is not some major driver of the climate. It hasn't in the past so there's no reason to think it will in the future. And CO2 shouldn't be that major an issue thinking about it. There are numerous green house gases, the most significant is water vapor. CO2 is very minor in comparison.

BTW your question revealed the simplistic way you think of this imo:

you do not have your mind even open to the possibility of global warming.

The issue isn't even "global warming". Its human caused global warming or AGW. Global warming and global cooling goes on all the time naturally. Do I believe in the possibility of global warming? Sure, I know its a natural thing that happens.
