James, >>Or am I the only one with a rapidly diminishing net worth?
<<

You're in good company. I take the attitude that
it is too late for me to get out now. But then
I thought that last Thursday, too. <G>

No, you aren't the only with a "rapidly diminishing net worth". However, I think that a lot of the people here either are long term investors who don't need to cash out of QNTM anytime soon and who believe that what goes up will come down just as what comes down will go up in the ripeness of time (me, anyway) or, if they are short term oriented, then they have either been stopped out or are too shell shocked to say much of anything.

If would be worse if QNTM, SEG and WDC were the only stocks going down. This is what happens with panic selling. In a year, it will be a blip on the screen. If you don't need the money anytime soon, don't worry about it. If you have some investable cash, just worry about where the bottom might be and think about whether you want to buy options or stock, depending on how quickly you think the rebound will come. Personally, I am actually considering options if this goes much further, although they would be pretty long term options. I wish they sold LEAPS on QNTM. I may do some LEAPS on Seagate if the price is right. Especially if the stock goes into the low 20s or high teens, as it may do if this craziness continues for a couple of more weeks. (Or even a couple more days at this rate.)

First time I have thought seriously about buying calls for quite awhile now.

Hang in there, good luck to all longs,
Sam

<<Or am I the only one with a rapidly diminishing net worth?>>

James, I hear ya! I feel your pain!
Somehow it's not as much fun to check on my stocks during sell-offs like this.
If you haven't got out yet, I would ride it out (JMO)
Qntm will be back with a vengeance once this irrational selling subsides.

Dale

Hey Jim, these threads offer many things, among them are exchange of information and as kind of a support group when the going gets tough. I'm with you, I'm really biting my nails today and last couple days. I'm trying to be optimistic, but it is hard. I don't think the DD's are being punished any worse than anyone else. In my opinion, this thing is totally overdone by Wall Street, as usual. I have stocks wiith minimal Asia exposure that are way down. They only question is when will this thing blow over? I think we'll have some small follow thru sell-offs following today, but I'm hoping things level off in a week or so. What do you think? When do you think QNTM will be back into the $40's? Chris
ps: I am losing my ass-etts too, but only on paper for now ;-))

Prior to today I was proud to say: "I don't do windows and I don't do margin." Now I may have to do windows.......And there's always tomorrow... I was like you, assuming the disc drive sector had taken most of its pounding and in fact QNTM was my only holding. I think the problems at the high end and the fact they alluded to a 4th quarter charge didn't help. To be succinct: I'm down $10 a share on 3K shares and it doesn't feel good.
