The CN "train pipeline" idea has been discussed on a few boards I follow. So far I have not seen any seriously valid arguments against it aside from possibly non US based refinery capacity. I may just be a quick fix and it may just give our friends to the south something to think about ... ??? Have a look at where the US is getting their oil from. I'd be a little worried (mid to long term) if I were them. eia.doe.gov

cll.to - had some again for a few hours the week before last, it's on watchlist, though i do prefer developers over producers, for the relative simplicity ... pity they didn't sell pdp.to in the 20s, they could have a zero-debt situation today and be on the acquisition trail with perfect timing ... of course the same can be said for most all true believers in resources, including thee and me Rail is pretty efficient, it must take some energy to push liquids through a pipeline, so while it likely takes more by rail, and wear and tear would be greater, the net increase in cost could be outweighed by the cost of servicing capital to build the pipeline, and the railways are already in place, with lots of spare capacity at the moment no doubt ... could work as interim measure in any case, since pipeline construction would take years ... interesting line on that page, 'Diluent savings pays for freight costs' One thing i'd like to know in re Metalline, is what would it cost to ship zinc oxide concentrate from Sierra Mojada to Skorpion ... two railway trips and a few thousands n.m. on a boat, could be made quite efficient with long-term contracts and the right equipment for loading and unloading ...
