I feel exactly the same way Josh. I did read the sequel to "Pillars of the Earth"........."World Without End".........last month. I'd read Pillars years ago. I do like fiction once in awhile, but I'm hooked on history and really want to learn something about why our society is the way it is, what we've done as humans to improve our lives, and how ideas shape our world. The list is long.........but I keep plugging away at it.

I'm reading a book right now called "Witness" by Whittaker Chambers. It's a large book so there are certain spots where it drags a bit, but I'm learning a lot about the Communist underground, how it started here in our country, who was involved and how they operated. I'm really looking forward to the chapters that cover the House Un-American Activities investigation.

And BTW Chambers was interested in and wrote poetry, which is evident in his style of writing.

I read way more fiction when I was younger than I do now. Most of the books I read now are informational. I do indulge myself when Larry Niven releases a new book.

Regardless of fiction or non fiction books have value. They are fountains of vocabulary words and theoretical outcomes based on the imagination of the author. It is interesting to compare historical science fiction with the technology that developed.
