Apparently the NYTimes has edited their online content to remove this paragraph from their article.

The outbreak in the United States comes before President Obama has his full health team in place. His nominee for health secretary, Kathleen Sebelius, has not yet been confirmed by the Senate, nor has the woman he selected to Food and Drug Administration, Margaret Hamburg, a former New York City health commissioner. Mr. Obama has not yet named anyone to run the Centers for Disease Control or the National Institutes of Health.

The online blogger Socratic Gadfly had already posted the last paragraph from the original article here:

President Barack Obama has not yet chosen a surgeon general or the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

This list of candidates is perhaps too short. LOL

20 cases in the USA is a meager number-----this is hardly a pandemic emergency as being described-----

"Health officials have reported 20 cases across five states — Ohio, Texas, New York, California and Kansas — and expect the numbers to rise as doctors perform more tests to detect the illness. None of the U.S. cases has been fatal. The outbreak started in Mexico, where it has killed 80 and infected 1,300."

If this were a true pandemic emergency, we would all be standing in line now, and I do mean "now" for the most effective vaccines.

A lot of political posturing is going on by Obama and his few approved appointments-----i.e. as mentioned in the article rapid approval of his nominees will be pushed for approval.

We're probably as well or better off without a Sec of HHS, Surgeon General or CDC head chosen by the incompetent Obama administration. Their picks are likely to be either corrupt political hacks, at best, or idealogical leftwingers out to advance the power of the State any way possible.
