So if someone is in the UK and can control when their income occurs - say they sold a tech company by excahnging shares, and will have income when they sell the shares. Lots of incentive for a year or so vist to Hong Kong, Switzerland, Bahamas, etc.

Come back to the UK in about 2 years, Tories might be back in power, and will have cut taxes again.

The Tories aren't going to do anything to keep taxes down until they are in control - you've got Gordon Brown, now enjoy him ;-).

On the flip side, many people who don't care to move will "harvest their losses" and postpone some of their gains for a future year...

The UK might experience a real life version of the Laffer curve, where increasing tax rates does not proportionately increase tax revenue.

TJ, where do I get the free stuff? Please arrange for my free residencies to all and sundry places and countries to be sent when you get time to arrange it. Such righteous places should give you very little bureaucracy in arranging them for me. I would like a free residency to your house too please as it has nice views and is handy to other interesting places in the region. Giggle....you have such a great sense of humour: < it is not necessary to pay for residency right to places that are righteous, and ful of hope, promise, true freedom and genuine liberty

it is only necessary for locales of tyranny and despair to increase injustice and mob rule
