Pros

UAL may merge with Continental. This is the only reason I can see for working at United (and it's admittedly a stretch).
If a merger takes place, Continental management would likely run the combined airline in which case you'd be working for management who 1) has the ability to manage and 2) has an interest other than lining their pockets.
Without a merger with Continental there is no reason to go with UAL.
Frontline employees are another plus at United although it's hard to tell how long that will last under management's current campaign of harassment. With the pressure frontline employees are under, it's only a matter of time before they start to crumble.

Cons

The biggest downside is the CEO (Glenn Tilton). He's demonstrated over and over again his inability to run an airline. He is quite good at lining his pockets. --He's the world's highest paid airline CEO but runs one of the least profitable companies. Go figure. Might have something to do with him appointing more than a few people to the board of directors. God help UAL under his reign. --And God help the next company he "manages."
