this selfishness is merely not caring for others equal to oneself. that is how jesus defined sin and he claimed society could never work when people didn't value others equal to themselves.

in fact, he said we'd eventually destroy humanity off the face of the earth (if he didn't directly intervene and stop it).

of course, that doesn't make us bad people. ;-)
