It is worse than that. They've turned the party over to the loons instead of trying to figure out how to address the mainstream. And certain members, like Rush, encourage this. Those who try to caution against it, are told to leave.

If Specter is just the first of many defections to the Democrats or independent status, well, that will be the final straw.

You still haven't explained your belief that one party rule will lead to an era of multiple parties. What, you think the Democrats will fracture once the Republicans are gone? Talk about counting your chickens before they hatch ...
