I think the author's thesis is correct about the export growth model having come to an end. China will still be able to move up the value chain and displace goods from Europe and Japan, so there will still be some growth there.

The other source of growth may be resource countries, such as Brazil, Australia, and parts Africa.

There is another small source of long term growth, and that will be income from Asia's accumulated capital. China has done well on their long term US bonds as interest rates have dropped and the USD has held up.

With both commodity and stock prices depressed, Asia will be in a position to pay low prices for valuable properties.
