Last I looked a government controlled by the people is a democracy. You just do not like this government, so you engage in name calling using words like facism.

My friend.. if you start telling the American people that we need to start all of these government operated "Manhattan Projects" to deal with the obviously Fascist Chinese government 's agenda (they aren't communists anymore) then that is EXACTLY what you are calling for.

So you do not think our government should mobilize our scientists to protect us from China, Russa and Pakistan??

And let me ask you.. are we at war with China, Russia, or Pakistan? Are you going to call for Obama's administration to direct the US military to initiate cyber-attacks/counterattacks against China and Russia?

koan: " I am ony saying "be prepared". We must be prepared for anything China, Russia or Pakistan. Bush alienated the scientific community. That is nuts, we need those folks.

Do you want to go to war with those countries?

It's ONE THING to prepare ourselves and defend our infrastructure and quite another to engage in massive "Manhattan Project" programs that put the majority of the scientific community on the gov't payroll. There's a place for both public and private market support of science because the interests of each are vastly different.

koan: Ok, so you tell me how we defend our missles against a quntum compter that China may well develop before us, that will be able to take out our encryption?

We wasted three trillion dollars and our military on Iraq which was no threat to us, and who was a much greater threat to Europe who would have had to deal with them eventually.

Man.. you just make Sh*t up don't you? For one thing, our costs in Iraq have yet to reach $1 Trillion. Secondly, we defeated and humiliated the forces of Islamic Extremism on their HOME TURF. Now they are relegated to bombing other muslims in order to make their statements. But killing fellow muslims is the antithesis of what they preach.

koan: "the three trillion dollars was given by no less a person than Stiglitz winner of the nobel prize in economics. what you are not counting in are the extra billions of dollars to rebuild our military and take care of our injured veterans!!

Furthermore, you want to engage in a cold war with China and Russia again, but you seem to find fault with the US and other coalition members enforcing the binding UN resolutions against Saddam's regime? We HAD LEGAL RIGHT to overthrow Saddam. I don't see the "casus belli" for mobilizing our military might against Russia or China (at this time).

Sadam's regime was never a threat to us. He was more of a threat to Europe, so let them spend their money fighting them. Their GDP is larger than ours anyway.

The greatet danger facing the US comes form China, Russia and Pakistan! Sort of important to know that.

Bush wasted our military on a brush fire.
