I'd like to see the seasonal adjusted numbers, but not as the only number and not as the headline figure. I suppose if they are going to report only number, one the actual YoY (or quarter over quarter, month over month, decade over decade, whatever periods are being reported) change would be best, and then it can be qualified that "which is X percent more (or less) than the normal decline (or increase) from seasonal factors.

OTOH I think government officials and press and TV reporters of statistics want one simple figure to present. Reality is complex, but simplicity makes for punchier headlines.
