The wife is gone from a heart attack You have had a tougher row to hoe than I have. I listed your wife's death because this subject has become a crusade with me the last two years. Perhaps nothing would have changed your wife's outcome. But a day does not go by that I am not reading and posting about unnecessary heart attacks and angina's that could have been prevented with simple screening and live-style changes. But overall our Cardiac community is not interested in that approach. They not only don't want to use the best screening device known, the Heart scan, they bad-mouth it. Advanced Lipid panels? Forgeddaboutit! Among Cardiologists, there is a real "if you don't need a procedure, why are you bothering me," attitude. lindybill@rantfortheday.com
