How can one convey meaning -to mass audiences- if not by a representation that makes sense to that audience you're addressing?

In the stated case, mass audience can grasp area subject to sunlight and comprehend that in terms of W of electricity.

A non-simpleton will consider (just scratching the surface):

Latitude where the area is located
a % of that area is below the surrounding buildings.
Municipal regulations
Adaptations of the electrical installations to make use of the power generated
Back up systems for cloudy days
...
...

Any new solution is only an adjunct to the main solution that's already mass deployed.

The test for a new solution success is if it fits the purpose of being an adjunct. Here is a test for an adjunct's success.

Ethanol passes the test as an adjunct.
It doesn't junk the internal combustion engine. Just an adaptation
It doesn't change the gas stations, just add another underground tank
Drivers do not need to change their mileage pattern. Same 50L tank.

Consider the problems I face here with a multi-cultural audience.

A few people can draw from the very shallow body of knowledge they acquired. Full grown adults who lived their life supported by that very shallow knowledge, who refuse to believe that they need to learn much more to able to grasp the complexities of the modern day.

Politicians know that they posses shallow pool of knowledge. Therefore they engage in jamborees called campaigns where the guy who has the capabilities to shake hands for two years with boring people and talking to boring audiences wins the seat of the office of the presidency.

That means this guy just passed a test of getting through those two years. It doesn't mean he is qualified to lead a country.

Down here in the thread, there's no democracy. Here is: who knows tell. Who does not. Listen, put up and shut up.

If they want to be listened to, then they should raise and prove they are making sense and contributing with original thought.

"And I can tell you those GDP predictions are very volatile!"
Message 25611905

Brazil's economy should post growth of around 1 percent in 2009 and gain steam in the coming years as the country emerges faster and quicker than other nations from the downturn in global markets, Finance Minister Guido Mantega said on Thursday.

GDP should expand 4% 2010 and grow faster in 2011, when it is expected to rise 5%, Mantega said.

Global growth will tread water for about two or three years, with most of the expansion coming from so-called BRIC economies of Brazil, Russia, India and China, he said. (Reporting by Aluisio Alves, Writing by Elzio Barreto; Editing by Jeffrey Benkoe)
