Well, your expertise in such matters perhaps outweighs that of our military experts and our JAG lawyers? Their opposition was likely not "political" if opposing the Administration's desire for such a program was going to promote their careers. To be "politial", they would have gone along with the boss, no?

maybe the military is just full of leftys.

All General Officers, Admirals, and of course the Civilian Secretaries and Deputies and Assistant Secretaries are 100% political. I have a good friend of mine, a retired Sgt. Major in the Marine Corps who retired in the early 1990's. He told me straight out that nobody makes General Officer in the Marine Corps without being a freemason.
