Dow Plunges 550 Points, Trading Halted Again

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Dow Jones industrial average, stung by sharp losses in Asian markets, fell more than 554 points Monday and officials of the New York Stock Exchange halted trading for the day.

The Dow lost 554.26 points, or 7.18 percent, to 7,161.15 at 3:30 p.m. EST, the largest one-day point decline ever, and NYSE officials halted trading under rules instituted following the 1987 stock market crash.
