Hank : Stop thinking about your dell short for a moment. What about the paper loss on your long stocks and how does that make you feel. You lost a lot of ground and that has to be bothering you a little. I'm still in dell profits so I 'm not worried...Too Much
I dont think you're selling your long stocks and thats the wat most dell longs feel. Never sell your fastest and best race horse even if it looses a race or two. You may want to come to the dell tour and buy everyone lunch. You cant keep what you have unless you give a little away<gg>. I'm a newcommer to the stock market and this has been a hell of a learning exp for me and I will use it for future references so I will be able to retire at 55 .

I kinda doubt interest rates would fall the way you said....in as much as .... world markets, should they continue to decline.ie asia, we would be a safe haven, and second.... a falling dollar would be very inflationary at this point and the fed would raise rates to support it.... but prob not raise rates at this point if they remain at this level... it's a whole new ball game now.

But technically....all supports are gone for the moment short term...the last being msft which is now well below the 132 level.... maybe a rally mid day tomorrow.....but if this is a bear on the horizon...it will be a too soon rally and possible major head fake...

but I must say...there are some really good looking stocks right now even with those dangers in mind.... sorry.... i don't believe cpq or dell is one of them.... they have a lot of room left before their bottoms for the reasons i mentioned in previous posts... bottoms meaning.....it won't be until december that their kinks are completely worked out.... their forward pictures i think will change dramatically... not in market share, perhaps not in pc sales growth, but on the margins issue....which is now the new bottom line for all hardware stocks period.

just my two cents.... i'm sure somebody will flame me...but hey...what can you do since all the fools came over and joined SI...

later
